During the 2010 Arts Festival - "Peace, Love and Art", students from Holy Redeemer will be looking at the work of graffiti artists who are making a difference. They improve the places where people live by making wonderful art on the walls and strom drains. Often the people living in the neighborhoods where these artists work, never get to see and enjoy art work. To these artists, life is beaultiful and the environment can reflect that! What a great message.

  In January 2010, I attended the Subversive PD Conversation @ Educon 2010 lead by Beth Knittle - "Why are there still so many educators sitting in the back of the faculty meeting rolling their eyes whenever 21st Century Skills are on the agenda? How can Professional Development be meaningful, effective and important for the uninterested. ALL educators need to learn the necessary skills and to integrate technology into their classrooms and teaching. How can we help our colleagues see 21st century skills as valuable for themselves, and ultimately vital for their students' learning? What strategies work to bring the most resistant teachers on board? How can we bring teachers out of their (isolated) comfort zones and into collaborative learning/teaching environments of the present and future."   SO.....next step....

Join the MSET ning and then join the MD DEN group. Build that PLN!

On Saturday our ordinary elementary school will become transformed by the brilliant conference organizers of Discovery Education!
I am expecting 20 people to show up to exchange ideas and get inspired by the fabulous DE line-up.

Laura Pilker, the MD Leadership Council chair and Renee Henderson, our DEN events coordinator will be here! We also have a few talented teachers and technology intergration specialists from the ADW schools and Kofi Handon from the Howard University Middle School joining us.

Tracy Weber of Aver Media will be here to showcase their new interactive student response system. We have been testing the product this year in a third grade classroom. We love it!

We will use two interactive classrooms. There is a Mimio tablet available that is kind of fun to play with and we will record the event with a flip and a few digital cameras. I also hope to be able to use etherpad to group blog! Please bring a laptop if you have one.

Telos, my avatar, will be available at 2DP if we think of some trouble to get into there. Aron Sterling might join us there for a little back channel conversation!

It's gonna be great. Can't wait to see you all.
